What We Test for – Male Hormonal Health Panel
At Alpha Edge Clinic, we conduct an extensive male blood panel to assess your full hormonal, metabolic, and nutritional profile.
This testing allows us to identify any underlying imbalances that may be affecting your energy levels, performance, body composition, mental clarity, or overall health.
Here’s a breakdown of what’s included:
Hormone Levels
- Testosterone (Total & Free) – Key male hormone that affects muscle mass, energy, mood, libido, and overall vitality.
- Oestradiol – A form of estrogen; too much or too little can affect mood, fat storage, and sexual function.
- FSH & LH – Control how much testosterone your body produces; low levels may mean your brain isn’t signalling the testes properly.
- SHBG – A protein that binds to testosterone; too much means less "free" testosterone is available.
- FAI (Free Androgen Index) – A ratio that tells us how much active testosterone is available.
- DHEA – A precursor hormone important for testosterone production, mood, and overall energy.
IGF-1 – Related to growth hormone, it supports muscle growth, recovery, and anti-aging. - Cortisol – Your main stress hormone; chronically high or low levels can affect energy, fat storage, and sleep.
- Prolactin – High levels can reduce testosterone and affect libido.
- Progesterone – A balancing hormone that may impact mood and energy.
Thyroid Function
TSH, FT3, FT4 – These measure how well your thyroid is working; thyroid health impacts energy, weight, and mood.
Muscle & Inflammation Markers
- Creatine Kinase (CK) – Tells us if there's muscle stress, breakdown, or overtraining.
- CRP (High Sensitivity) – Measures inflammation in the body, which is linked to heart disease and fatigue.
- Vitamin D – Essential for mood, immunity, bone health, and hormone production.
- Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphate – Important minerals for bones, nerves, and muscle function.
Metabolic & Organ Health
- Full Blood Count (FBC) – Assesses red and white blood cells, immune health, and anaemia.
- Liver Function Tests – Checks for liver stress or damage, which can affect hormone balance.
- Kidney Function (eGFR, Urea, Creatinine) – Shows how well your kidneys are working.
- Glucose / BSL – Blood sugar levels; helps assess insulin resistance or risk of diabetes.
- Electrolytes (Sodium, Potassium, Chloride) – Important for hydration, nerve function, and blood pressure.
Heart & Cholesterol
- Lipid Profile (Cholesterol, LDL, HDL, Triglycerides) – Measures your risk for heart disease and metabolic issues.
Nutrient Levels
- Vitamin B12 & Folate – Needed for energy, nerve function, and mood.
- Iron Studies – Tells us if you have too much or too little iron, which affects fatigue, oxygen delivery, and recovery.
